Manipulation of the foot is a common treatment modality. The treatment can take two forms. One form is based on the philosophy of the use of manipulation of the foot as the main treatment modality. This is similar to what chiropractors do for the back with the treatment of subluxations. This is also said that it is controversial. Generally, no other treatments are used or considered as being needed. The most common condition treated this way is flat foot. The other form is the use of manipulation as just one part of the treatment plan. It includes conditions like cuboid syndrome which needs strapping and foot orthotics.
